Don't eggcorns have to kinda make sense? Unless you can conceivably describe a cul-de-sac as being a sack for cola in some way that's eluding me, I think that would just be a malapropism.

It's a relatively recent coinage, and perhaps not very widespread outside of amateur linguistics nerdery.

Only of the ones they examined. I kinda hate headlines like this. They simply didn't check that many factors, and few of the ones I am interested in.

Buried in the actual report is the information that overwhelmingly the offenders that had military experience had been out of the service at least two years before offending; 30% had been out more than sixteen years. Which strongly suggests what happens to service members after they separate from the service has a lot to do with whether they offend.

But they apparently didn't investigate that.
