I hope it's the mockingbird, but for all I know it's an intrepid squirrel or rat or something. I'd better keep an eye out in the morning, see if I can figure this out.

Oh! Also, somebody linked me to this tumblr: "Is today a Jewish holiday?" and it seems potentially helpful. Right now it's all menorah pictures, because today is a Jewish holiday.

The fruit feeder is not really sized to be perched on by a duck.

my feeder birds have always ignored fruit (cut up apples, halved oranges, etc), you must have a better class of bird!

ETA: I do see them peck at it, but they never finished it, so I stopped putting it out...

We have a few mockingbirds and catbirds. I swear they're all new and we had none before 2005, 2010 - must be climate change.

I immediately scrolled back and was happy to see that that Tumblr reports Shabbat as a Jewish holiday.

I had a conversation with sashagee where she asked me what the most important holiday was and I said "Shabbat." She said, "That doesn't count, it happens every week!" and I replied, "I know, isn't it great?"

Etymologically a holiday is a holy day. So, obvs.
