Date: 2024-10-12 05:00 pm (UTC)Making Harold's clothes bright blue on the 1998 cover also contradicts Johnson's own artistic restraint. Looking through the history, HarperCollins had Harold in a green outfit on the cover of the "Adventures of" compilation, and Harold looks kinda pale there too.
I assume the pjs are not newly made blue inside the book. The original cover is beautiful design work and adding extra color to it is a Not Getting It move by editors and jacket designers.
