"God or Deep State" - how 'bout "neither"? I don't know how some people pull both socks on without someone to help, I swear.

So, I do know what you mean, but my various coordination issues mean I've had trouble with getting dressed since childhood and I still often find I've put on my socks in some weird way that's uncomfortable until I fix them, with the toe part twisted around or the heel oddly poking out the side of my foot. (I also was near or in my double digits when I learned to tie my shoes and put on a shirt without getting lost inside it, and it was in middle school before I could reliably start a zipper or button an entire shirt without having to start over.)

Also: JFC, don't read all of them. You'll die of depression. Read some of them and skim the rest of the titles, that's the only safe way.

yeahhh... I'm not reading those. I already know how dumb people can be, and the way things are shaping, there's going to be chunks of Florida that are just plain gone after Milton's done grinding over them. I'd say it'll be a bunch of Darwin Awards well deserved, but for the collateral damage of friends, family, pets and rescuers.

And then they'll blame the Democrats for it.

True, and I feel sorry for them. But oft times the reason they can't is because some idiot made it impossible for them.. lack of aid, finance for evac and so on... see collateral damage.

Yes, but let's not imply that they deserve to die. Darwin Awards are for people who shove live lobsters down their pants or who spend the day pretending to shoot each other with a gun and then don't tell the other party that they loaded the gun and the game is over.

No, they don't... and sadly the people that blocked their route to evac probably won't collect on their own personal awards anytime soon.

Well, at least we got that out of the way - after I posted I was having Shower Thoughts when I started thinking, "Wait, someone's gonna say that's ableist of me" so I was fully ready to come back just to clarify, lol. At least it was you and not someone else.

I know you know what I mean though all the same, I'm remarking purely upon some folks (lack of) critical thinking skills, and not any physical challenges they might have.

I do feel bad for all of the folks in the path of destruction. As a species, we're all in deep trouble and there is no end in sight. I don't know how we as a society can afford to keep rebuilding--but we'll have to find the money somehow, won't we? Normally--in the not-so-distant past--didn't people get more warning about super bad hurricanes, and have more time to prepare/evacuate? (As a Californian who has lived through two bad shakes, I can't help but compare this to earthquakes--sure, in principle, we know they're coming, but when one hits, there is barely enough time to get under the desk. I don't have a go-bag because there is nowhere to run...) It just seemed like this one developed overnight into a category five.
