I don't know why they don't recognize plants. It should be obvious that you put work into it.

No, if you don't know you wouldn't. I know I've put a lot of work into it, because digging up that awful weed is a job and a half. But it doesn't look cultivated - there's a reason I decided to go with wildflowers for the whole yard this year! Over the next few years I'll start a new vegetable and herb garden, patch by patch, but I won't do it all at once. I just needed something on the dirt until I do that.

I don't even step on them when I weed them! (Yes, I'm still yanking up that ragweed. It's amazing how many little bits escaped my notice, but mostly they come up easily now that they just have a bit of root left instead of the entire network.)

I am still angry about the plants they squished, the pots they broke, and the car they dented the first year i lived here while doing renovations. I feel for you.
