Ahh, they are so cool! Seriously, one of my favorite raptors.

I wound up subscribing to Ed Yong's newsletter a couple months ago. I started reading his writing during the pandemic because of his thoughtful approach to some challenging aspects of the pandemic (he used to write for The Atlantic, if you're unfamiliar). Anyway, he has really been getting into birding over the last couple of months, and has expressed similar delight about how many different species he's been able to see, in places where he initially would not have expected the diversity.
