I heard woodpeckers every year since we moved here when I was a kid, but I never saw one until I put out the suet.

And now I see them in places other than the suet feeder, like "just across the street" and - were they always there and I never saw them? Or have they only come closer to my house because of the suet?

Some animals have adapted well to the wild, like a group of redtails that lived around this suburb I was in
in Boston that lived off the rats and pigeons. I feel like woodpeckers can be a bit migratory too.

You often need two birders to actually see a woodpecker. They like the far sides of trees.

The suet has added your yard to their territory, so they're present more, yes!
