conulyand it seems like if I continue with the plot to kill the emperor the Dark Brotherhood will be decimated.
Except I like all those people! I mean, sure, they're stone cold killers for cash and sure the spectral assassin says creepy things the entire time if I summon him and of course next time I play I'll wait longer and level up a bit more before murdering that old lady, Grelod the Kind*, so I am powerful enough to subsequently kill Astrid - but in this playthrough I've joined the Dark Brotherhood and it's actually rather touching the way they interact! I think they all really do care for each other!
So now I'm not sure I want to go through with it. Hm.
* Or I could just, you know, not murder her. I know what you're thinking, but that'll never happen. Her name is ironic. After you kill her, guards will randomly comment on your good deed as you pass them in the street. My morality may be a little flexible in this game, but it's not that flexible. I'm definitely killing that woman every time I play. Even if I decide to go whole-hog evil and join the Vampires in their plot to rule the world I'll still take time out of my busy life to kill her. Believe me, she has it coming.

Date: 2024-02-02 02:03 pm (UTC)Serana is about the only sidekick I like having around for more than a short time, so I enjoy getting into the Dawnguard quests. I find becoming one of the vampires really cramps my play style, so most of the time, I'm in it to be a vampire-murdering "good guy."
