I was woken up this morning with a facetime video from somebody I don't know. Which obviously I ignored, but some time later I got a text - "Hi dad". I thought about it a second and texted back "Wrong number" and, because I didn't want to be too terse, "but happy Thanksgiving anyway" in the same text.

And do you know what this person replied with?

"Three days late buddy."

Yeah, okay, I'm not the one who didn't realize until Sunday after the holiday that I don't have my own father's number! But I guess they actually read the rest of my text because a minute later I got my final communication from them "Oh sorry".

It was a very rainy day, so this was necessary to wake me up.

ah criminy. Surely in that context, "but happy Thanksgiving anyway" should be read as "but [hope you had a] happy Thanksgiving anyway." But I guess not doing so goes with the general thoughtlessness which was then apologized for.

Careless is the word I'd use. But at least he had the good grace to apologize once he read my entire text.
