But I was wrong! Comments will continue to be screened, and to be clear - since I got a few comments! - I'm not replying to any of them, whether I agree or not, even if it's just "Oh, god, everything is so awful, how can anybody do such a thing, surely nothing justifies this". I hope we all agree that violence against noncombatants, especially children, is reprehensible, so there's no need for me to respond and say "Yes, it is awful!"
Two notes. First, I've been collecting them a few days, started this post, took some time off to be sick, sosome several may be are actually outdated. I'm not editing out old links now, I'll never have the momentum for that. Secondly, there are some opinion pieces in here. The only opinion I actually agree with is "Why can't everybody just agree to get along and stop hurting each other", which... well, anyway. I'm linking to them because I read them or intend to read them possibly, not because I read them and agreed with the opinions and/or conclusions expressed. As near as I can tell, they're each fundamentally wrong in at least one way. You may prefer not to read any of them at all.
