Can you take Benedryl? It helped me with the shingles, weirdly enough. And it seems to take care of the histamines the fastest. I get food allergies - and that could be it. You eat something and you break out in hives and itch like crazy. Only thing that works is Benedryl.

I use it sparingly - because it causes excitability (anxiety) in me, and depression. (I handwave the dementia - there's no actual proof of that, my father and grandmother had dementia and never used benedryl. And I know a lot of people who have used it - and never had it. It's kind of like the view that the flu shot and COVID shots cause Autism - no real proof of that either. )

I used just for the shingles. And now, have stopped. Only use it have a massive allergic reaction - such as hives. Otherwise, I use Levocetirizine proscribed by my doctor. It's dependent on drug interactions. And everyone's body reacts differently. Most people fall asleep with Benedryl for example? It makes me anxious after a bit and keeps me awake. While Levocetirizine doesn't.

Always a first time. If you get it - you can't re-get it. If you get vaccinated, less likely to get it. And if you do ever get it, you can get shingles. But you'd know - it's pox all over the body.

Yup. He was a carrier - contagious but didn't have it. Similar to COVID - which also had asymptomatic cases.

Same with shingles - you can get relatively mild cases. Mine was fairly mild, and my mother's case was close to asymptomatic.

Also, the cases range in severity: I had a relatively mild case, it itched, but got better quickly. My brother had a severe case - his was inside. (You can get chicken pox inside your body - in the stomach, throat, and mouth. Also on the genitals. My brother had it almost everywhere. It was horrible. And surprised us.)
