how actors and writers and generally *anybody* who agreed to certain working conditions or pay therefore has no moral right to strike.

Are they getting paid to shill? Paid well, I mean, with benefits? Because if not, maybe they shouldn't do it. Labor is labor, after all, and their labor is worth something, so why give it away for free?

I've heard this so much and I love your counter. Yes, these shills are performing free labour for the employers' interests because they want to reinforce their self-image as being higher-status than the strikers. Of course, to union folks, they just appear weak when they whine and pose this way.

I thought they were striking because the contract had expired, and the issue was the terms of the next contract.

I join you in utter bafflement. I guess other people having it better than them is unthinkable somehow? Then again, this is what happens after decades if not centuries of devaluing the arts.

The industry is notoriously competitive to the surprise of no one, so some will see an opportunity where others dare not venture. I guess we'll see whether it bites them in the end but I'm hoping it will be.

People who do that have absolutely no concept of what the work is like, and how much it fucking costs these people to live where they work. So they need to shut the F up.
