Mama Cat is such a bitch

and for no fucking reason.

Her only remaining kitten at home is Callie, and for the past 10.75 years, since she was weaned, Callie has been trying and failing to get on her mom's good side. The other day I'm sitting with Mama Cat in my lap, and Callie came up to say hi to her mom, and got swatted and hissed at for her troubles.

It's like this every time. And that's why I like Callie more. (Also, Callie's my cat, and hardly ever insists on bursting into the bathroom while I pee.)

She loves Eva to bits.

Me, she tolerates. If there's something she wants - to be let in, to be let out, to be fed - then it's "Hey girl! How's it going? Where's my hug?" but as soon as she gets it then how her song changes! "I don't know you! Get away from me, go bother somebody else!"

As someone with a multi-cat household, I can safely say that females are more solitary. My two girls would love nothing more than to be only children. They both hate the boy cats, and they don't even like one another. The boys, on the other paw, snuggle together, play, groom, tussle, etc.

I don't really want to dive into all that, but I can honestly say we have, in the past, had far more cats than we do at present. I've never seen a particular pattern with sex.

Mama Cat is simply the least maternal cat I've ever had who didn't actually abandon her kittens.

Aw, poor Callie. Mama's either mean or nursing some sort of grudge way past its use-by date.

To be perfectly fair, I think you need to ALSO give the context that Mama Cat frequently treats terribly: her own tail. Hissing, growling, and chasing it.

The difference is that Callie is a perfect sweetheart. That tail, however, is up to no good.
