I love all examples of sentence final particles in worldwide Englishes. This is because they're novel and exotic to me, which probably isn't the best reason to love something, but I still do.

Date: 2022-07-04 04:48 pm (UTC)I admit to having some envy of the Singaporean/Malay English 'lah', which can add final emphasis but also add to a list: "this,lah, that, lah" a bit like a more-enthusiastic 'blah blah blah, but living in South London I find myself embracing the multipurpose 'innit'.
Word snobs stop complaining (at least to me) once being informed it's a British alternative to French n'est-ce pas or German 'oder'.
