and we're expecting temperatures in the low 80s on Thursday.

Meanwhile, other parts of the US are expecting snow.

I know that this is a very large country, geographically, but sometimes it gets a little strange.

Last week the thermometer reached the low 90's F. Today it barely reached 50F with a bitter, damp wind that cut right through you. Last night the low was 32F. We haven't had rain since December, south facing hillsides are dry, and some are brown (at the beginning of April!!!). Now we have up to 2 inches forecast in the next two or three days, with more after that. Maybe, just maybe there will be enough to grow a small hay crop in the Central Valley (of California), and even drop some snow in the Sierra's where our snow pack is at record lows.
Farmers in the Central Valley, the "breadbasket of the nation" have no water to grow crops or even keep their trees and vines alive for another year.

I was thinking the other day about how in the same town, at certain temperature ranges some people have their heaters running and some people have their A/C running.

It's been over 20 years since we (northern hemisphere, temperate zone, metropolis) stopped getting much if any snow in December and January, let alone the 1-2" for 3 weeks or more on end that used to be the norm until about 30 years ago. Now we get regular short-lived snow flurries in March or April instead.

how are you counting pollen that it is only in the double digits? Ours is in double digits year round and I don't get concerned until it hits 500ppm or so.

And causes all sorts of barometric pressure related ailments. The weather guy on NY1 was funny. He said that it was hot out west but cold here, but don't worry, it would switch soon and be hot here and cold out west, then switch back again.

It seems to be the new normal is what we thought of as the progression of the seasons is no longer the case. (We got snow for three consecutive days. None of it stuck.)
