We're going over the Laws of Motion (especially gravity). Everybody understands that acceleration due to gravity, on earth, is pretty much a constant (9.8 m/s2, give or take .001 if you're on a very high mountain). We all understand that heavy objects really don't fall faster than lighter ones (as demonstrated by crumpling up paper and dropping it, noting that once there's no significant air resistance it falls like a rock). He demonstrates the fact that a ball thrown horizontally will hit the ground in the same amount of time as one dropped from the same height.

But that's not good enough. Now the questions have to start. What if it's a gun? What if it's going really fast, say 5000 m/s? You can't say that'd land at the same time!

Um, yes, yes I can. Because it's true. After one second, it'll drop 4.9 meters. After two, it'll have dropped nearly 20. You can't defeat the universal law of gravity simply by running faster. This isn't a roadrunner cartoon, it's real life.

Honestly, I don't know where people get these ideas from.

Oh, and the orajel thing? I ended up with the adult orajel. Bad idea. It's a liquid, and there's NO way to apply it without it sloshing all over your mouf. Weehwee. It's like I've been chewing on ice, here! Which would've been helpful, now that I think of it... Anyway, I should've stuck with children's orajel, teething formula. That doesn't taste nearly as nasty, and it's in a GEL. It goes where you put it.

How come you're not using your "Obey Gravity" icon for this?

I can't stand adult orajel. Use a q-tip to apply it. It's a buttpain and you might have to do it a couple times to get the full effect, but it's better than being numb all over.

Better than nothing, but only marginally.
I've been told sticking baby aspirin on the hurting tooth helps. I've not tried it however because aspirin tastes so crap that I suspect they think it feel better due to the taste making them forget about the pain entirely.
I might just be cynical though.

MTB saw something on one of those "urban myth" tv shows that demonstrated somehow that terminal velocity wasn't true. They did this by replicating a bullet from the top of the empire state building vs. a penny.

Now, *I* did not see this show, but my brain broke when I tried to understand how they proved that the bullet was faster (and therefore was more dangerous, in fact, than the penny).

BUT, I have always been partial to particle physics and pathetic at Newtonian physics, so I didn't try very hard to figure out what was going on there. It just didn't make any sense to me so I tirned off.

maybe you can enlighten me? :-)

I recommend gas-x tablets. The ones that are yellow on one side, and white on the other. Stick the white side on that there tooth! If Gas-X is not to be had, then Tums will work, too.

(I do not recommend this for everyone, I just know that Gas-X specifically says it can also be placed on an aching tooth for temporary relief, and considering Tums has the same ingredients, I think it'd probably work, as well. >.>

This theory is untested and unsafe. Don't try this at home, kids.)

Right. I need food.

I've always used Chloraseptic (the spray that people use on their throat.) it has amazing numbing powah!, but it doesn't last long. I think it only works on fleshie bits, though.

poor Ullyf, cur-sed with the pain of the mouth! ;_;
