Cat bites should always be taken seriously, but as she didn't draw blood I decided to wash thoroughly with soap, lather myself in Neosporin, and do wait and watch. By morning I should know if that was a mistake.

Sure hope it wasn't. I hate going to the doctor. The waits have gotten better since covid, but still. Either way, I plan on a new tetanus shot this week.

Huh... I think I've been bitten and scratched so often, I have immunity to just about anything they're carrying.

You might have some immunity, but cat scratches and bites can kill you really fast, so if it gets red or swells at all go to the emergency room immediately. Our downstairs neighbor waited about 14 hours after a cat bite (his cat) and almost didn't live. Took more than 2 weeks of IV antibiotics 2 x a day, and his arm swelled to twice it's normal size before the antibiotics could control the infection.

That is terrifying. Though I think it may be outside the norm or else we'd all take them super seriously at all times no matter what.

Both he and his arm recovered, however the doctors said that if he had waited any longer to come to the emergency room he might have died from the sepsis that was overwhelming his system. He was bitten, quite deeply, in the late afternoon. He treated the wound by washing it out and applying antiseptic. By the next morning he had a "red line" going up his arm past his elbow, which is a very serious sign, so it was really fast.
As I understand it all cat bites, and scratches that break the skin are considered dangerous. If the bite is deeper than just barely breaking the skin you should seek medical attention regardless. As I said before, even from minor scratches if the site gets red or swollen at all you should seek medical attention immediately.

If it starts to turn red or swell, get to the doc NOW. That cat mouth bacteria moves really fast, and if you don't nip it in the bud, you'll end up on IV antibiotics. You'll need Augmentine and I forget the name of the injection. Best of luck; hopefully it doesn't come to that!

I hope you're okay! Our Jassy used to occasionally (thankfully, just occasionally) take offense at the air or something, and latch on with teeth and claws to the nearest leg. She was lucky we loved her.

Bites are always a worry, and even a light scratch from a cat gives me hives* but I seem to be all right. If anything changes, I'll run to the ER.

* Everything potentially gives me hives, but cat scratches are consistent. Indeed, I got a hive within seconds of this bite, because I also got scratched at the same time.
