That show... just...
First of all, Amphibia is a death trap. It is actually horrifying, and I'm an adult! They claim this is for children. I have my doubts. In the last episode we watched the kids were whining about Hop Pop's travel rules, "what's the worst that could happen" and, it's - guys, in the last three months you have nearly been eaten by two different sets of cannibals. Plus all the other things that have nearly eaten you. And all the stuff that just tried to kill you and maaaaaaaaybe would have stopped short of consuming your corpse.
Also, the writers are inordinately fond of lampshade-y foreshadowing. People in that show are constantly saying very stupid things like "What's the worst that can happen?" or "Hope nothing bad ever happens to me", despite the fact that by now, they all really ought to know better.
TV: I sure wish we knew what that abandoned ancient factory was building!
Me: Oh, geez, well, when you do find out you won't like it.
TV: But now we'll never know!
Eva: You'll definitely know. And you won't like it.
TV: *closeup on menace from factory*
There may be a limit to how much of this sort of thing you can take.
