Date: 2021-11-23 07:46 pm (UTC)I have to explain to someone, because giant 16th century music nerd, that the sound track is the Christmas song, "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen", usually translated to English as "Lo, how a rose e'er blooming". The rose in question being symbolically Maria, but do with it as you please:
Es ist ein Ros entsprungen,
aus einer Wurzel zart,
wie uns die Alten sungen,
von Jesse kam die Art
Und hat ein Blümlein bracht
mitten im kalten Winter,
wohl zu der halben Nacht.
Lo, how a rose e'er blooming,
From tender stem hath sprung.
Of Jesse's lineage coming,
As men of old have sung;
It came, a flow'ret bright,
Amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.
