And were you assigned "vampire" at birth, or only recognized your identity and started presenting publicly as a vampire later?

Oooh… I get where you’re going with that, so my bad on being dismissive of someone trying to come out as a vampire.

"Samples were served in identical plastic cups, except for the fresh human blood, which was served directly from a graduate student."

I went to grad school.

Yeah. This is about right.

At least they're acknowledging graduate students are human. Or were, anyway.

Look, years ago I attended a – this is real – talk given at the MIT Media Lab about lactose intolerance, in which the guest lecturer explained that the negative symptoms of lactose intolerance are 100% the fault of the gut microbiome digesting the lactose instead. If someone with lactose intolerance powers through the gastric misery of consuming milk anyways for "oh, about five weeks", the bloom of lactose-digesting microbes will cause them to die off, and the lactose intolerant person can then consume lactose with impunity: they won't digest the lactose, but they won't get sick from it either.

And we know this because, and I quote, "You can get grad students to do anything."

Oh yeah! Me, too. (Is that a crab having coffee, in your userpic there?)

Definitely a crab drinking something, but I don't remember, when a friend made that userpic for me almost 17 years ago, whether we discussed what liquid was in the glass. It wouldn't be alcoholic, and I stopped drinking soda a few years ago following an acute bout of gas, so coffee is a distinct possibility.

Well, the crab looks to be happy, and it's probably not sauce used for eating it, so... :-D
