Soooooooo the criminal justice system of Equestria, if you could even call it that, is totally fucked from beginning to end. It even manages to be more corrupt than the American system, which I think we can all agree is saying a damn lot. Apparently, parole is easy if you're a close personal friend of a protagonist, but non-existent if you're not. I said as much to Eva, and she said "Yeah, at least the US isn't locking up little kids in cages" and WOW. Um.

SO MUCH AWKWARD SILENCE THERE.

Quite seriously, though, I wonder about the implicit messaging this is sending to little kids.

There are definitely some bad messages in there. I remember being particularly annoyed at the episode about Pinkie Pie's woo powers, and also at least one with bullying.

I haven't rewatched either, so this is going by how grumpy I remember being when I saw the episodes years ago: "Feeling Pinkie Keen" in season one, and "One Bad Apple" in season three.

And yes, for a show that is presumably about friendship, forgiveness, and harmony, there's quite a bit of punishing people with very permanent effects. Then again, what would you expect or of a show where the world is run by Goddess-Queens who got that way by gathering enough power to themselves to ascend?

i don't watch the show, but the writers had him in mind when they wrote it. but never thought they could get delancie to do the voice. they were looking for a similar type, but no one fit the bill and eventually they just asked him.
