and in solidarity with Mother Earth, my body has decided to symbolize growth and rebirth by bleeding.

I feel certain that it has been less than two weeks since we last observed this ritual. I will be writing a very sternly worded letter to the management.

Are you old enough for perimenopause? Going into that time can make your reproductive system go completely batshit crazy. Six months without a period? Allright! A period that lasts two weeks? Fuuuuucckkkk Another one a week after that one stops? Double fuuuuucckkk! If you think you might be getting old enough, there is a blood test that can confirm or deny it.

I'm hoping I'm just on the early side for perimenopause, because the other options are less likely but a lot scarier.

I was in my 30s when I started having symptoms. My mother looked at me and said "You're going into menopause!" and I didn't believe her for at least two more years. I was through with the whole bleeding part by the time I was 45. Still had hot flashes for a while longer, though.

I just passed the 12-month mark in December, after re-starting the peri-menopause countdown more times than I like to count. That's my silver lining to this year of lockdown. Finally done.

I just occasionally have an anovulatory cycle -- which means I get two periods in a month. Once I got four, 10-14 days apart! THAT WAS ANNOYING! (First: normal. Second: light and gross. I mocked my uterus. Third: normal. I made the -_- face. Fourth: pretty normal.) If it'd happened again, I'd have gone to the doctor, but whatever it was sorted itself out. And that was years ago.

conuly knows as she reads me - my body's been the epitome of going off the deep end - except it finally stopped this March after my first COVID shot (and didn't really-really-really start going off the deep end until a suspected case of COVID last mid-October, so I'm thinking if this all works out it wasn't perimenopause, it was COVID that caused it, and that the shots may have possibly resolved it for me *crosses fingers hard, it's been just hell*)
