For good or bad, I probably shouldn't be so surprised that a book titled "Spiderlight" is by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I don't know what his deal is with spiders, but I do know that if he was in charge of this real universe there'd be more of them, probably the same number of beetles, and (I'm guessing) a lot fewer humans.
