Especially Marvel. They just have so many properties and all their properties interact in weird ways and I'm sure I'm sorting it all wrong.

They're like kudzu all over my neat sorting.

There are two solutions. One is for everybody to forget them entirely and never ever engage with them at all. This seems unlikely to happen, so the other solution, which I advocate, is for everybody to answer those prompts as promptly (!) as possible so I don't have to list them at all.

Please go do that.

And don't forget special issues. They've been that way since.. hell, I started collecting in the late 60s and it was hard to sort stuff!

I just realized I don't have a Marvel user pic; I should have a Dark PHoenix one somewhere!

The MCU will never answer anything. Take what solace you can; those living there will pass the ketchup and recommend slow brazing.

(Try CE leapfrogging Chris Pratt. It's pretty edifying, and explains how CE is so good at being a bannister|barre.)

This isn't a new phenomenon: even just trying to sort the 7 Narnia books is non-trivial because The Magician's Nephew, the 6th book published, happens before the rest, while The Horse and His Boy, the 5th book published, happens between one paragraph and the next of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Things don't often come in neat linear orders. Frequently you can fit things into two dimensions, but sometimes even that doesn't allow you to show all the important links without a lot of line-crossing. Three dimensions should work for anything connected by line segments (although it's still a pain deciding what should be "close" to what, and whether the axioms of a metric space such as the Triangle Inequality apply to this problem), but if there are connections with three "ends", like the Triboro Bridge, even three dimensions gets tricky.

Just remember that Coulson's whole etching of the city is Meta.

Also, the dim and distant Stan Lee designation of the Baxter Building's history is a tongue in cheek wry commentary.

Last I heard, Marvel Movies has made every television property prior to Disney+ "Off". Continuity within Spider-Man:Away From Home is wobbly. I feel like Citizen Kane, Brave New World and 1984 are interlaced in it as well.

Which prompts are needing looking at so they can adopted and taken from the range?

I did happen to go to your 'timeline?' and see a Prompting Post after my query.

I am taking that the Sweetness is what is needing the prompts filled? Since that's the one you were "which tech do I even?!?"

If there are other Fests also needing prompts promptly herded, please advise.

(I fear that I am still weeks away from reading down to where I away-ed from keyboard. Yes, I'm that person, nearly using an inkwell to access the web.)

I'm not sure how I and the Disney+ materials are supposed to interact. On the one hand I'd like to watch them unspoiled, and on the other I probably won't see them until Years Elapse. (Chris Evans is more likely to sing them first.)

I think Feige has made it easier. If it's not him aka MCU and Disney+, it's not connected, no matter how much they told us that it's all connected.

Yeah I don't really write in it, but at least he has made it easy. I'm hoping that once he brings the X Men in there, I can use one canon for them too, because comic book and movie canons are all over the place.

So much of it is tied to studio rights that, during Marvel's nadir, were being bought and sold like penny stocks. The documentary about Roger Corman's Fantastic Four effort is a good visit into that particular sausage factory. The resulting mess among (mostly) Disney, Universal and Fox over who owns/can develop/can show who is a cluster of Marvel villain proportions.

For conuly, I'm so sorry about the Utter Tangle all the comics related fandoms are causing. I'll take a look at things but I've got to do some RL meanwhile.

DC's not much better. One of the ironies-not-really-irony of THEIR history is how DC cease-and-desisted a competitor named Fawcett from using the character "Captain Marvel" because he was deemed too Supe-like, only to lose the rights to his name to Marvel-Marvel after DC bought Fawcett and then had to rebrand him as Shazam after Stan came up with a character of the same name.

Which is why I made blanket apologies to our host in another strand of this post. Detective Comics were able to use the courts to limit how many titles Marvel could publish in any given month. This makes me have little sorrow other than for the newsstands and the readers. And librarians who were once readers or are newsstands.

That broke down.

I've addressed Stan's naming especially re: She-Hulk in fiction. It's over on AO3.

Have you read Jack Kirby's year long run of The Losers from back in the 1970s? Don't know if there is a post-modern reprint, there was a hardbound remaster that's likely out of print. (Yes, that's DC. No, very little relation to the movie of the same name. Though Jack would recognize the premise, imo.)

*slips in a pillow* I also bring you the cardboard image of Randolph Hearst should you need to castigate anyone in effigy.

I am not in possession of a proper accounting of the Comics Syndicates, but they're at least tangentially related. Also the larded rounds that led to the Sepoy Mutiny. (Perhaps it was tallow. The British Empire and the Companies were pretty lax when it came to understanding the needs of their hired troops. Suet?)
