and I didn't know that you could actually talk to other users using Bitbook. Now, all my "friends" are merely people who posted on reddit that they return visits, and accordingly, all the chatter is variations on "Sorry I haven't returned visits, I've been busy!" and "I'm about to rebuild, anybody want any valuable bitizens?" but I can't help thinking about somebody who values privacy but has no means to ensure it resorting to Tiny Tower or something similar to hide their messages from prying eyes. I doubt messages are saved anywhere, because it's a silly cell phone game.

As a story conceit, it's almost charming. If you think too hard about the situations that might force people to do this in real life, not so much.

On the throw away culture...

I spied a 19" flat monitor (16:9) in the trash. I picked it up, let it dry out, cleaned it. It works fine.

Dual monitor set up here we come!

The "birthday rule". I wish the US had sensible healthcare. I'm pretty worried about the UK's tendency to underfund the NHS, & the current government.
