What a great challenge! I'd participate but I know what would happen- I've never once been able to make a recipe without having to either forego or substitute things.

That's okay. This community is very explicitly no judgment. I don't care if you make enough substitutions to turn your "cake" into a salad, no judgment. (Okay, in that one scenario, maybe a little judgment. But well-played!)

You are the only one who knows what substitutions are necessary for your household. Just so long as you make some note of it when you post about it.

I think of "trying a recipe" as adapting it, almost always. There comes a point where I'm no longer using the same recipe, but it's well after "replace butter with margarine" and "replace wine with apple juice," and "replace bacon with pastrami."

There is a poll of the main post in the community, that has "at least one recipe over the year" and "unsure/rather not say" as options, if you wanted to join in but aren't sure about the commitment. I totally understand about the spoons.
