my neighbors' kids scream their lungs out constantly. I grew up with the kind of parents who would get all pissed off at me if I talked slightly louder than average.

At any rate, kids screaming loudly doesn't bother me as much as the particular loud noise I was subjected to yesterday.

The article on "the code that controls your money" is very strange, because it spends the second half saying that nobody learns COBOL any more, so it'll become impossible to maintain these programs. But it spent the first half saying that COBOL was created for the specific purpose of being quick and easy to learn.

I have to look at COBOL a couple of times a year for work. (It's never the code that's wrong, it's always the data). It's not hard to understand but it seems to lead to code structures that are very hard to follow for maintenance purposes.

Not that there isn't something to go on about almost every day that ends in a Y (case in point: pot smoke from the guy side neighbor tonight/some past night/last week for the billionth+ time).

I think the best excuse yet was tonight's "Oh, I didn't think you'd smell it when I was just taking a few quick hits off my bong!" He never thinks we're gonna smell it, apparently.
