Every single person blowing off fireworks in my neighborhood, I hope they lose their thumbs

Unless they're kids, in which case I hope whichever adult allowed or enabled this dangerous, inconsiderate nonsense loses their fingers, all of them.

I concur. Someone just set up fireworks around here at 12:15 am. Shockingly, there still people who need to get up early tomorrow, you asshats.

My great aunt lost her eyebrows in a youthful fireworks accident. They grew back.

Also, my great aunt was born in 1893, and things were rather more lax in those days.

I saw an interesting story that it was actually NYPD distributing fireworks! It speculated the specific goal was to cause unrest to disrupt people from protesting.

I enjoyed playing with fireworks as a kid, we were very careful and no one lost digits. But we also didn't have the tremendous fire dangers that we have now. Personally, I think they should be banned, but you're still going to have smugglers and people buying them outside of town where they're legal and bringing them in "Because they're fun! And patriotic!"
