This reminds me of Jack Finney's short story, "I'm Scared," wherein the mass pressure by all of us "involuntary emigrants to the future" to escape the terrible present, to go back home, is actually distorting, warping the flow of time.

Certainly I wouldn't mind hitching a ride on Doc Brown's DeLorean to "good old 1955." - when there were only 150 million people in the USA and less than three billion worldwide!  And the quality of daily life reflected that - as it reflects today.
