I can't recall if/how much you know about Project Zooniverse. They recently posted about online learning and service things for school-age kids. Anyone can register at Zooniverse, but kids <16 need adult permission.

Me, I've been happy to look at photos of animals in warm climes during wintertime. Or look for snow leopards. Or try to decipher old written stuff. Or count sea lions. Etc. (Or squirrels & raccoons in Chicago, or squirrels & deer in Wisconsin.)
