At least once a day I get a call about how my cat is sitting on her lap. I'm not entirely sure if she's complaining or boasting - Callie is renowned for not being the most sociable of our animals. "Why does she do this?"
Well, she's learned that your room is a warm, largely dog-free space where I frequently pop in and give her a snuggle, so she hangs out there. After hanging out there for three years she's decided she ought to occasionally leave her spot in the furthest corner of the room and say hi.
I can explain this to my mother, but I can't stop her from calling me about it.
In other cat news, Mama Cat keeps deciding the time for snuggles is right after I sat down at the keyboard (naturally) and Sweetheart has successfully conned two other families into feeding her, and is now absolutely the sleekest cat on the block, spoiled animal.

Date: 2020-02-16 03:19 pm (UTC)I have - one vegan at university who complained that vegetarians were worse than meat eaters because they had thought about it but not fully committed. She also made all her boyfriends go vegan as a condition of dating her. She's the only obnoxious vegan I've met in person.
I've also seen a lot of overzealous vegans on twitter - they like harassing Disabled/chronically ill people and claiming that
a) everyone can be vegan, even people who are too exhausted to cook or who have lots of food intolerances or severe iron-deficient anemia
b) if you're chronically ill/Disabled, becoming vegan will cure you [spoiler: it won't]

Date: 2020-02-16 05:34 pm (UTC)We have been blessed with an elderly Evil Cat. She's now old enough to vote and we are sure she will vote for Trump (again, because I'm sure she voted illegally four years ago). Two Septembers ago, after I'd evicted her to the garage after a night of caterwauling, she got out the back garage door and disappeared for almost two weeks. A friend came to help find her, calling out her name "MICHELLLLLLE!" I went with the far more recognizable "SHUTTTTTUPPPPP CATTTTTT!" Then, two Sundays after she left, she just sashayed into the garage and demanded food- a little underweight but not a scratch on her. Our guess is that she had found a sweet little old lady to mooch off of, who got completely sick of her after a week or so and removed her from her place of residence.
She hasn't gotten out since, but just in case, when I replaced her collar and tag (which of course she destroyed on her adventure), I put a helpful warning label on her:
(In fairness, it does have our phone number on it. We just might not answer.)

Date: 2020-02-16 09:36 pm (UTC)We have two cats who have been here for the long haul, Mama Cat and her child Callie. A few years ago we also got Sweetheart... and honestly, her appearance has always been a bit of a mystery. She showed up one day, and there was also a cardboard cat carrier on my porch so we've just assumed she was dumped, but....
Mama Cat mostly stays in Ana's room. Sweetheart is Eva's cat and mostly stays with Eva or outside. Callie is my cat, and until we got the dogs she spent a lot of time with me, but since the dogs think my room is their room she now spends a lot of time elsewhere and we have a good snuggle or two every day. This is not an ideal situation, but she doesn't seem unhappy.
