No sooner do I post about bezoars
Feb. 4th, 2020 01:13 amthen the word itself pops up at
wordsmithdaily_feed. The etymology is pretty boring after all that, I have to say: From Old French bezahar/bezoard, from Arabic bazahr, from Persian padzahr (antidote), from pad- (protector) + zahr (poison). Earliest documented use: 1597. (I feel I should issue a spoiler warning for the illustrative quote, which refers back to Half-Blood Prince.)
