I'd say something a little more scathing and/or sarcastic, but I'm aware that people in Australia are actually dying from the heat and the fires, so I'll restrain myself.

65 fucking degrees. In January. Fucking a. One of my neighbors is running their a/c in the attic.

Finally got snow in season, hopefully the lilacs can 'nap' until real spring (they were starting to test leafing.)

YES. You have no idea how much I hate the cold, but I am so worried.

They're running the a/c at 65 degrees? It's 67 in my living room, I find this perfect. I'm not running my heater but I certainly wouldn't want to turn on the a/c either.

It was in the 60s on Thursday here in Kansas. Friday we had thunderstorms that turned to freezing rain, and 2 inches of snow today. The speed of the change is a bit extreme, but both snow blizzards and days in the 70s are normal for January around here. Mid-continent climate is characterized by a lot more variety in weather than places closer to ocean heat sinks.

And yet our family in Alberta are expecting about -30^C this week!

I actually don't know. But the weekly Skype conversations always end up discussing weather, and this was particularly notable for the difference between their week and ours, so it was memorable!

That's not a good sign. As much as I dislike bitter chilly wind, it's pretty necessary to having actual seasons.

I get internally snarly (and sometimes externally) when people are cheerful and glad for warm weather in winter. I'm like, it's supposed to be COLD, so it KILLS OFF BUGS and tells the damn plants to go to SLEEP. ARGH. Also, I am quite tired of cleaning mud off my dog's feet. The ground should be rock hard right now, and ideally covered with snow.

The lilacs started thinking it was spring. I'm hoping the buds that are swollen can handle whatever winter is coming and that we don't have a heatwave prior to a late frost.

Totally about mud, that was starting to happen from fence to fence construction crew members.

I wore a cotton jersey dress and a linen jacket to brunch with a friend, and I still had to change into a sundress when I came home today.

I understand the words but welp. That sentence shouldn't make sense even given you're in a different climate.
