but we spent the better part of the past few days looking for it. We were running out of options in the house! Finally found it in the front room, which we, like, never use. I actually thought about checking in there and then said "Nah, really, what're the odds?"

Should've known better than to ask that little question.

Hey, anybody know anything cool and inexpensive or free to do in Montreal over this weekend for her and the kids? They're both teens and in high school now.

The llght show at Notre Dame Basilica is pretty cool, I saw it with my friends some years ago. I don't know if it qualifies as inexpensive, though.

Depending on what you consider "inexpensive" there's probably a museum or a planetarium or two. The exhibits might be different than what you have locally.

The Musee des Beaux Arts is free for under 20s
Cycling along the Lachine Canal is nice and the city bikeshare scheme is I think $7 for the whole day
There are lots of places that are just fun to walk round; Atwater Market, the Mountain, the Vieux Port

Montreal is a great for walking, especially the old part of the city. Free map you can download: http://www.vieux.montreal.qc.ca/tour/eng/0cartea.htm

The Museum of Fine Arts' permanent collection is always free (if they're into that sort of thing). The Redpath Museum is free admission.

There's High Mass at Notre-Dame Basilica on Sunday mornings (not sure what time -- 11:00 maybe?), complete with choir and organ, plus the Basilica itself, which is stunning.

There are free tours of City Hall.

Trekking up Mont Royal to the top is free and provides a spectacular view of the City.
