The seeds are brutal and the things are mostly tasteless unless you have several to boil down to concentrate the juice. The previous owner planted the kind that has the large fruit in my yard here in AZ. I like the flavor, but it's not exactly worth the effort.

I like cactus pears, though I agree they're mostly tasteless. I don't even mind the seeds when eating them! I just didn't realize how they'd affect the smoothie.

That story about the trade schools doesn't explain why the law was introduced- I suspect as a ham-fisted attempt to deal with fake schools ripping off people who don't know what they should be getting and aren't at a level to succeed if they do.
