Ultimately, I do not care for coffee or tea, so my preferred hot drink - when it's cold enough, is hot chocolate.
Recent experience with fresh lemonade has revealed that my sugar intake reduction efforts have worked and it can easily be too sweet for me, but sometimes I want the sweet-tart taste.
*does full body shudder at the thought of marshmallows in lemonade*
that suggestion is flat out inhumane, that is! where I live is fast-becoming lemonade season, with hot chocolate season liable to return in approximately five months
When feeling unable to choose between lemonade and hot chocolate (I enjoy each) I had US-style in mind, the kind one buys from the county fair stall from the person with the big stack of fresh lemons in their kiosk.
UK-style is maybe more useful as a mixer but in modern times seems difficult to buy without artificial sweeteners.
I'm under the impression UK lemonade is basically Sprite/7-Up without the lime flavor, so under that impression, I couldn't imagine making lemonade regularly nor without specialized appliances.
I love hot chocolate, but since I live in a tropical place, the "hot" part isn't usually as appealing as the "chocolate" part. My compromise is iced cocoa. :D
This was really difficult for me because they are...functionally different? But I picked hot chocolate and then immediately regretted it, so who even knows.
I like tea, coffee, chai, herbal tea, lemonade, hot chocolate, shakes, smoothies and punch - all either with or without assorted varieties of alcohol in them - depending on the season, the occasion, and my mood at the time.
It astonishes me, that so many people have specific 'favorites' in so many categories, even down to having favorite numbers. What's up with that? How do they even decide? So weird.
Because sometimes one is the mood for a change. I realize there are people who are never in the mood for a change; who eat and drink the same limited selections all their lives, and may even have trouble coping if their accustomed favorites aren't available. This seems a bit neurotic to me, but "de gustibus non disputandem est", and they're not hurting anyone else, so whatever.
