In honor of, uh, painting the town red, take this list of international period euphemisms. I have no idea if any of these are actually used widely, but that's not the point of listicles, is it? Or take this one instead.

Maybe I should not have answered, for fear of the same curse. I am at that awkward age* where I THINK it's menopause. But you have to go a full year without a period for it to be menopause, technically.

*It's better than the previous awkward age, around menarche. I'm not completely clueless, and I have enough autonomy that I can leave the room when it seems to be filling up with bullies and/or bigots.

The concept that it isn't menopause until you haven't bled in a year is incorrect. I never completely stopped bleeding, and I just figured it was "menopause from hell", and it got worse and worse. I didn't go to a doctor because I couldn't afford to. Then it got so bad that I almost bled out on my way to the ER. It turned out that I had endometrial cancer, which hadn't caused me any symptoms until after my last "official" period. Because of that, I had a complete hysterectomy in 2011. And my oncologist asked me to warn all my women friends about the "one year" rule, and if they have any sign of bleeding after they think they're done, see a doctor.

Please, ladies, if things start getting weird, see a doctor.

Weirdly, I still get the odd cravings and mood swings occasionally at roughly the time my period would have started. I still don't miss it ;D

Love my coil! :D Dreading when it needs re-done and they argue they can try do it without knocking me out though. Noooo you cannot. Tilted cervix and endometriosis says hammer on head, wake me when I'm free from that bs.

And....this link list is wonderful. Even if it reads like a least of 'well....yes'. XD

Your post is weirdly dated April 18, 2019 at 12:31 am, while everything else is April 13, 2019. Weird.

What? I don't know what antedate is? Or why? It's new to me. I also tend to just scroll down the flist. I was offline for about four-five days, so missed a bunch of things. That's why I noticed. Normally, I just scroll and pay no attention to the dates. Also, it was a poll -- so I wanted to see when or what period of time the poll was for -- due to the fact that I'd been offline for a bit.

the lists were interesting. I'd heard a few of the ones in the second list from old books and a few movies that took place in eras earlier than when those movies were made but the ones in the first list were really unfamiliar. (I have a possible clue to "apple bread" in the first list. I read a novel in which a young woman in 18th century China was apparently told "the story of the apple tree and the peach tree" which from the context seems to be the old Chinese equivalent of "the birds and the bees" so maybe Chinese symbolism equates apples with sex in some way?)

Yes, but did the other 15 get Shark Week on THE SAME DAY (because hahaha we stay within 24 hours of each other no matter what now don't we)

I don't know if I should laugh or cry but either way the poll's awesome, and slightly reassuring, in some strange way!
