Date: 2019-04-03 11:59 am (UTC)This is a bit off topic, sorry, but still related: I watched Undercover Boss for a while a a study, and it amazed me how an employee would be struggling to make any money, so the CEO would pay for her son's college tuition and send the family to Disney World. Instead of raising wages. This was done with uplifting music. One time it was a married couple that was struggling. I'm sitting there thinking: "BOTH of your employees are living below the poverty line. They're literally making twice the amount of money, and still can't pay for the bare basics." But the real message was that they got a reward, right? /S It's appalling.

Date: 2019-04-03 03:45 am (UTC)People who say bronc riding isn't cruel are totally full of shit. Maybe it's true that physical pain is not being inflicted on the horse (and maybe it's not) but it's certainly SOME kind of rage/panic that's causing the horse to behave as it naturally would if a mountain lion was on its back, and how is it NOT cruelty to deliberately and repeatedly incite that?
Rodeo should be banned. It never will be, because this is America, where we can't even restrict handguns, and for the same reason: the sweet, sweet profit to be made by pandering to the base urges of the hoi polloi.
