Date: 2019-02-22 06:00 pm (UTC)Department outsources to company to provide security and other services, pays a set fee. Company workers strike, but then walk into work the minute they are meant to start, *after* the company that is paying them so little has had to pay for extra temp staff.
This explains a lot about the strange security non-strikes we've had at work recently. FWIW employees appear to be on the side of the strikers, given that security is actually rather important atm (and there's enough other options nearby that closing the canteen is only a mild inconvenience)

I saw this first hand: went out with friends for pizza: we had multiple pizzas, unbeknownst to us one had a very hot spicy sauce on it and it set one friend's mouth on fire. I got a scoop of gelato rushed and it instantly took care of the problem, also hooked me on their gelato!
