I was cleaning my glasses and I guess I put too much pressure on the hinge because they just... broke. In a not really reparable way. Happily, I still have my old pair (same prescription) as a backup, but unhappily the reason I had the new pair was that the old pair was pretty scratched up, so I still need to replace them. Ugh.

(Also, reading along what everybody stocks in their pantries. Haven't forgotten to reply!)

I do - when I'm buying shoes of a brand I've worn before. But I always make sure there are free returns because shoe brands have been known to, for example, make shoes narrower than they used to be so that a known size no longer fits me.

I've gotten my glasses through zenni for...gods, a decade now? I've got seriously terrible eyes, and I still pay about 22, 30 with rushing it.

That gym class article mentions in passing that American schools have been cutting kids' recess to focus on academics. That can't be good for the kids...

2. I despise the notion that recess and PE class are interchangeable. During recess you're allowed to run away from the bullies, both the kid and adult ones, but in PE you're stuck with them.

2. I don't know how anyone could think they are interchangeable. PE is a structured lesson whereas at recess you can do whatever the fuck you want. Meaning that I usually spent most of my time in the library, on my arse, not running around, but also not thinking about anything academic. People need time to rest and reset.

Lenses can be moved from broken frames to not-broken ones. See what it would cost to replace your current frames?

We'll see if that works. Lenses can't always be *easily* moved around that way.

If you don't have insurance, where I get mine from is goggles4u.com - Last pair of progressives I ordered was a whole whopping...$50. And the pair of single-distance lenses I wear most of the time I think ran $20-25. You'll need to know what size frames fit your face currently, to know what to order. And your pupillary distance.

(I got quoted $600 for prescription progressives when I had my last eye exam done - and that was when I was going to provide the frames for them to fit!)

Oh ouch!!! Sympathies, new glasses are a necessary evil at times (my prescription costs a fortune, so I am not looking forward to the next time I need it...)
