Fandom for Robots

I kept bracing myself for an unhappy ending, or at least an unhappy middle, but it never happened, so yay!

I loved this story!

Also, the website fanficarchive.org (because of course I checked), redirects to the author's webpage, which I think is pretty cool. (I was hoping it was linked to ao3, but regardless I love that the author went to the trouble of buying the URL she referred to in her story.)

I hope that Cybertron and bjorn have a long and fruitful collaboration.

I'd like to imagine that at some future point it's found out that RobotFan really *is* a robot. And that it goes over well.

Maybe the fans could take up a collection to pay the museum to keep the collection around.

Or maybe he could move in with bjornruffian?

I think the rest of the collection (Ie his creator's other robots and documents) should go with him.

I think he'd be a much better roommate than some I've had!

That is absolutely adorable. Thanks for sharing the link (and the reassurance that there wasn't an unhappy ending).

Someone else(?) linked this on DW a while ago and I must say it's even better reading it the second time! Thanks!

Wow, that was wonderful. Also, yet another entry in the new but growing list of robots watching and having feels about media that's clearly become a thing.

Sounds like a duel: your take is bad and I'm calling you out. Or possibly the famous telegram FU strongly worded letter to follow

That is a most awesome story, I loved it and thought it deserved a Hugo last year when I read it for the voting process.

The winner in that category was 'Welcome to your Authentic Indian Experience'  by Rebecca Roanhorse, who also won the John W. Campbell award for Best New Author.  Fandom For Robots came in second.  IMO, Authentic Indian Experience was good, but was not near #1 for me.  But everyone has difference judging criteria.  I was quite happy to see The Good Place, Wonder Woman, Murderbot and Bujold's World of the Five Gods all win Hugos.  I'm looking forward to seeing what next year's nominees are, but that won't come out until April, they're accepting nominees right now through March.  I don't vote on media as I usually don't see all of the programs and didn't see the Dark Mirror or Good Place episodes until several months after voting closed: both episodes were pretty impressive, but you don't truly appreciate The Good Place episode - IMO - until many episodes later.

It's a feel-good story about a robot without emotion circuits. Pretty cool all the way around.
