Even telling them what I really think wasn't all that fun.

No, I will not be donating $2,700 every month to you, Donald freaking Trump.

Well, there's always the old legal terms...

Objection! assumes facts not in evidence!

That fits the one about his commitment to the troops.

Several of them did that. Others "ignored" valid possible responses. Basically, the way the question was phrased both yes and no imply that the question was asking about actual facts rather political statements with no direct connection to reality.

I love the way half the questions are leading, but in a more subtle, political way. And then the rest are just straight up rants.

"Do you agree with President Trump’s unwavering commitment to, and respect for, our incredible veterans and TROOPS?"

Dear God...

It's such a startlingly transparent ploy for conservative American support. Trump has been a public figure for a long time and if he really had that kind of unwavering, knee-jerk support for the American military, everyone would have known about it before now.

The only entity he has unwavering, knee-jerk support for is himself. Ivanka's not even a close second, but she's the next closest thing to that, for him. The military (like most government-supplied things, especially) is barely an afterthought.

He stands on politesse but outside of a superficial veneer of showing respect he doesn't understand, nor give a flying crap, about much of anything, really. So without any real agenda of his own, he's all about whatever appeals to his base, and that does.

Extremely slanted, but fun to respond to. Of course as it came from "No One", they'll just toss the survey out. No way in hell am I going to give'em my real name, real email, zipcode or cell number. Firetuck'em.

I mean, I do think certain media has given us false impressions of what's going on at the border, but I don't think it's the media Trump had in mind. Heh. But it's scary how many people are falling for it and using the Opiod crisis. (I do think the Opiod crisis should be addressed, too many young people are in region obituaries, but not with a wall and false rhetoric.)

Trump is a product of fake news. Not a defender against it.

Just out of curiosity, was this online prior to Pelosi un-inviting him from the January SOTU address?

It's a data harvesting scam anyways. Trump really doesn't care what we think.

There are a few questions on the list for which a truthful answer is possible, and even without filling in the "Other" box. Then there are the ones like "have the main-stream media done a proper job of blaming Democrats for the shutdown"...

I filled out an online opinion survey from the Republican National Committee (or somebody like that) a year or so ago, and I recall some of the questions being slanted or "push", but not nearly as bad as this one.

I've seen Republican surveys before.

Typical 'unbiased' questions:

How much do you love Trump?
A. a whole lot.
B More.
C. Much more.
D. insanely.

How high do you think the border wall should be.
1. 90 feet
2. 150 feet
3. One mile.
4. High enough to put a mile high signs on the south side reading "Stay Home!!!"

Do you think women's health rights are:
1. Communist
2. Overrated
3. Sinful
4. Men's business only.

How low do you think taxes should be?
1. Be next to nothing for the well to do.
2. Be abolished.
3. Be turned into give-aways for the wealthy.

How much do you want to give to help the Republican party?
1. Lots.
2. Lots and lots.
3. Buckets full.
4. Even more if I can deduct it straight off my income at tax time, and get special favors from all my favorite GOP politicians.

It's even got the random capitalization (or ALLCAPS) that I've come to associate with Pompous Ideas or otherwise people being inflated about their own sense of importance. That said, I kind of admire that they're going for as much brazen-ness as they can, because it seems to be a regular thing that his base appreciates when someone gets to say all the things they've been thinking.

It's not to any greater degree than what the Republicans have been running for the past decade or so, especially with Obama in office.

That's not supposed to sound or look dismissive, but to point out that it's on the same level as the Republican Party has been in these slanted surveys for a good long time now.

I dunno, telling them what I think was moderately amusing. I didn't tell them who I am, though; claimed to be Janet Weiss at zip code 54321, and gave them an old left-over e-mail I don't use. Really don't need those shitheads sending me stuff.

EDIT: Hah, they pissed me off so much, I just now went and became a Sponsor member of Democratic Socialists of America.

No - up till now I've only been a 'fellow traveler', not an actual card-carrying Socialist. In general I feel my dough is better spent supporting environmental causes, because, tbh, fuck humans. I'd willingly sacrifice a thousand years of human progress, and every human life that progress ever saved, if it would undo a thousand years of human damage to this planet, and restore every species that damage wiped out.

I'm very proud of my own state's Governor, Jay Inslee, who's planning to run for POTUS on an environmental platform. He won't win the nomination, of course, but good on him anyway. Basically, I've joined the DSA because, nauseating as the GOP undoubtedly is, it's the 'centrist' corporate Democrats who really make me want to vomit (https://youtu.be/aMp1xL6QwEQ), and unfortunately that includes both WA Senators and my district's Blue Dog congressman. They've done some good things, but they could have done so much more if they weren't owned by the DNC and their corporate donors.

I want Bernie for President, Warren for VP by preference, and a LOT more folk like awesome AOC in the House, Senate and State legislatures in 2020. There are so many nice things we could have (https://youtu.be/HKHfx4iRFC4) if the DNC would stop selling us out, and the DSA seems to be the organization they fear most, so I'm happy to join up. Woohoo, Solidarity!!!
