What are your favorite combinations of fruit to go in them? Best to avoid pineapple - some of us can't eat it (something I keep on forgetting because I, for one, love pineapple.)
What are your favorite combinations of fruit to go in them?
I can't promise it will be relevant to anyone else: my two favorite fruits for smoothies are mango and durian. (I've never had them together, because I know maybe two places in Boston that make a durian smoothie at all, but I'd try it.)
Bananas should almost always be the base for your smoothie. Saying this even as someone who has mild allergies to it. The closest thing I could think of to replace it would be cooked taro or cooked sweet potato.
Past that, I usually want something to provide a tart followup in it, so: most berries citrus apples (depending on variety) guava passion fruit mango pomegranate
And then maybe something to sweeten it to balance it out if I go overboard on the sour: honey (I know, not a fruit) apples (again, depending on variety) blueberries peaches
This can all variate depending on how ripe the fruit you're working with is, but that's my general rule. To add something to make it interesting, usually a bit of cayenne, or ginger, or whatever. Depending on the fruit you use, it might also get very gritty from seeds, so...
I usually use banana and a few strawberries, plus yogurt, protein powder, and water, maybe a bit of powdered milk, sometimes a little cocoa powder. Lately, a half a banana is enough if i don't want to make something too gigantic!
I don't do smoothies much myself, but I always encourage folks not to discount avocado! Westerners tend to think of it as a savory fruit, but my Asian-American friends taught me back in college that it's wonderful in smoothies, and it adds a really creamy texture as well as lots of good healthy fats.
Seconded! It performs a similar role to banana, making everything thicker and richer. I've heard it very strongly recced to go with chocolate flavours, though sadly I can't eat them myself.
Also: cinnamon, malt syrup, caramel syrup, vanilla essence, brown sugar
Frozen fruit makes everything a little thick-shake-ish which is especially nice in hot weather (I realise that is not your issue right now!). Frozen avocado tends not to defrost quickly enough but everything else does if it's in small-ish pieces. With bananas I don't chop them before freezing I just just put them in a plastic zip-lock bag and squish them flat with my hand, this breaks them up enough to not turn into solid unbreakable rods.
I'm very lazy when it comes to smoothies -- whatever is in the freezer. Which means bananas, mixed berries, mulberries, and/or guava depending on how far from fruiting season we are.
I'm REALLY partial to strawberry, and strawberry/chocolate combos. Blueberry and cherry also put in an occasional appearance when I have a choice.
I *always* use stevia to sweeten - 0 carbs in the (very carefully chosen) forms that I get.
They're not terribly keto, but I don't peel them either. I just pull off the stem bits, pitch 'em in the blender with the other ingredients, and let 'er rip.
Orange juice, Greek yogurt, a banana and some frozen berries - raspberry by choice, but any kind will do.
One of my housemates is allergic to bananas. We all like pineapple, but I seldom buy it, because it's kind of a pain in the butt to prepare. In general I don't make smoothies; I just stir my whey protein, collagen and psyllium into a big glass of diluted OJ, and glug it down. "It's what's for breakfast!"
Strawberry/banana is a staple for me. Youngest won't tolerate bananas. Actually, she dislikes all fruit except for apples so we have a hard time getting her to accept any smoothies.
Not banana. I like cashewgurt or coconut cream or something to thicken it; anything but banana. Bananas themselves are fine with me but too sweet (and often overused) in smoothies.
Frozen berries or cherries blend well and make it frosty without chunks of ice. I love mango anything.

Or anything without blueberries.
