I stopped with the naming of new species. That was cool.

I've still got my LJ account, even though it's pretty dead over there. I keep it because I've got some friends there who don't have a DW account, so I just post to both platforms. I've had an account since about 03, I think, and I feel sad that it's going under.

I didn't know the KKK were involved in enforcing the Prohibition. Makes sense though. Easy to get people on board with your organization based around racial purity if they're concerned with moral and physical purity themselves.

I had evil C'thulu periods for YEARS before my doctor did my hysterectomy, and keep in mind this was AFTER I'd had my tubes tied! Plus I had to sit through a complete bullshit "counselling session" before I could get my tubes tied.

Ancient population genomics is my latest fad scientific interest, so I read the NYT article -- and a lot of Twitter discussion between scientists about it.

Overall, there was a lot of negative opinion. Complaints included the fact that it seems to make Reich the dramatic villain of the story. But several people also commented that scientists *have* to be able to disagree without fear, even of "bigger" scientists with more fame. Almost everyone agreed that they need to solve the problem of four labs monopolizing the samples . . . somehow.
