Yep. 1000 for a free account, 1500 for a paid account, 2000 for a premium paid/seed account

Manage Circle helpfully tells you how long ago each account updated. I'd cull all the ones that haven't updated in over a year, personally.

Well, I've cleared away all the dead and no-longer-interesting feeds, anybody who hasn't posted in half a year or more (with a few exceptions of people I know lurk!), anybody who neither subscribed to me nor gave me access and hasn't posted in over a week, all the (dead) LJ carry-over accounts, and a ton of comms.
