When I entered (late) my core 10 class today, and sat down (nowhere to plug in the laptop), I realized something a little traumatic - the battery had run down. I'm not sure how, I can't imagine Xiggy would do that, but it's the only answer there since she was the last one to use it. So I had to ask people to move their stuff so I could plug in the machine. *le sigh*

Still, I have to say, the battery recharges FAST. Amazing.

Okay I have to ask, did you name your laptop after the know-everything-guy or computer or whater that Al always talked to on Quantum Leap?

I've never actually taken my laptop to class, nor have I seen anyone else do it. Hmmmm, maybe I should use it for note-taking next year.

The name is Ardath. It would've been Demierk, but I didn't get it until Friday, and that's definitely a Wednesday name.

I don't write very neatly. Not only that, but my handwriting looks like a third-grader's, instead of a sloppy adult's. And it takes me a while, and gets ink all over my hand.

Ouch. I have experienced that trauma.

I *cannot* work without my laptop. Fellow Apple geeks may point out that it's a 'notebook', not a 'laptop'; to me, that distinction is more than semantic nit-picking. It is a knowledge storage/retrieval system. It happens to have a keyboard and a near-infinite number of near-infinitely configurable blank 'pages'. Most of the time, I use it for... taking notes. Very rarely is it perched atop my lap. ;-)

People do give me odd looks in meetings and such. Nobody's said anything yet, but I'm ready to fling the ADA at them if they choose to be jerks about it. (I use a keyboard protector to muffle the tappa-tappa-tappa, which seemed to be the most prevalent concern.)

By the by, have you acquired your Shiny New Battery(tm)? If not, please tell me the make and model of your laptop, and I will do my best to ensure that a battery is sent to you. :-)

Yes, Xiggy is a friend of mine, who was visiting from Minnesota. She has rats. I also have a friend Ziggy, in England, who has rats. But Xiggy has girl rats and Ziggy has boy rats, so it's different.

2. *blushes* I think I tossed out my user manual when cleaning. In retrospect, this was Not Very Clever. So now I'm in the rather embarassing position of having No Clue what my sister bought for me, other than "a shiny laptop from Dell. It's blue".
