The artists really cared about set accuracy. Sure, there are the inevitable alleyways, but they're relatively few in number. I suppose even Manhattan has a few dilapidated alleyways. Central Park looks like Central Park. The Cloisters look like The Cloisters (and Eva was thrilled to hear that it's a real place and we can go there whenever we like). The MoMA looks like itself, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that somebody went in one day and carefully took note of which painting was where so it could be faithfully reproduced in cartoon format.

On another note, say what you like about David Xanatos, you gotta admire his vision. It may be evil, but it certainly doesn't lack for ambition and style.

I have been talking about Gargoyles a lot lately. I only have the first season but I'm about to buy the second because I really want to binge this show. I was in love with it when I was younger!

SWEET! I'll probably still buy season 2 when I can because I already own season 1, but until then, woohoo!! Thank you!

(Oh I know. I did not watch past season 2. I don't talk about the Goliath Chronicles...ever)

There are a few shows that really tried and I gave them credit for it. You should check out the New Adventures of Johnny Quest for example, it looks like they actually used photos of the area to make it at least look like it was there instead of taking the "let's pretend it's Canada like almost every other film that tries to take place in NYC but is priced out of it"

Ha, I knew from that tree headline that it had to be about the Bradford pear!

David Xanatos was my first Magnificent Bastard. How I love them.

(But only in fiction. I learned soon enough that no matter how magnificent, in real life a bastard is still a bastard :P)

Gargoyles was extremely popular amoung my friends when i was in college and we all watched it. Beautifully written and researched, interesting characters, some of the best written villains, iconic voice acting, mythic themes.... We were heartbroken when they fired the team doing it to "make it more commercial" by making it boring and cliche.
