...I see the colors on the tree, in that painting/photo pair! I see a lot of them, though a bit less vivid than the painting has.

Belated thanks! (Can you see them in the photo vs the painting? My spouse is all "the computer screen can only show the same colors" but he hadn't bothered to LOOK at the thing, and couldn't/wouldn't tell me if HE could see them...)

i liked the story about Genghis Khan. it reminds me of an interesting book i read The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire by Jack Weatherford
