Date: 2018-07-25 08:54 am (UTC)Certainly the SCA events that I am use to are normally only a weekend, or a long weekend, or sometimes two weekends and the week in between. These can take huge amounts of effort in terms of making costumes and accessories, packing them, making (or buying) pavilions, camp furniture, pre-cooking some food, setting up to cook on site, building armour, or making arrows, or whatever other specialized toys are needed for the event, etc. What kind of effort is involved in just sending a kid to a place where the food, shelter, and activities are all provided by someone else?
