The forecast has changed a few times, though it's currently back to being pretty grim - rain, rain, and more rain.

Oh, that's where it's gone. Can you send it back to the Left Coast please?

It's pretty grim here, too, albeit in a different way... dry, dry and drier still. As a country, we're not equipped to cope with that! We're equipped to deal with water, not with a lack of it.

We've been asked not to use too much water for watering our gardens etc. I keep a bucket in the shower now, use it to catch the cold water when the tap is opened, and give the resulting water to the garden plant that manages to look most thirsty in the morning.

Nope, not everything... just the things that happen regularly. It's the dryest summer since 1976.

Well, a while ago I was interested in setting up a system such as this... but there's no good way to do that with a built-in cistern, and we're not going to disrupt our nice new bathroom for a few weeks of drought. I just stuck those tiles on and I'm not about to rip them off again any day soon.

A system that uses rainwater (which we normally have plenty of) for flushing may be in the cards.
